About me

I began teaching in 2004. Since then, I have worked in special education, taught fifth grade, and taught Spanish at the high school level. In 2024, I became an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teacher at a local high school.

My love for languages started in kindergarten when my teacher taught us how to count to ten in Spanish. During middle school, I volunteered at my church, where I taught basic English to a group of Vietnamese students. In high school, I participated in an international exchange student program in Costa Rica, and I developed such a deep affection for the people, language, and culture that I returned nine more times to visit my host family and friends. In the years between visits, we have maintained our connection in Spanish, thanks to technology. I’ve had the chance to travel to many Spanish-speaking places, including Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Peru. I hope to visit more parts of the world in the future!

I enjoy spending time with my family, being active in my church, taking fitness classes, and walking my dog, Siesta. I am currently working toward a doctoral degree in Second Language Instruction.
